Matching Gifts

Double Your Impact

A simple way to increase your impact at no extra cost!

Every donation to the Catherine McAuley Center makes a difference, and a matching gift can multiply your impact. Did you know many companies offer employee matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions or volunteer hours made by you, their employee?

What are matching gifts?

Employee matching gift programs are corporate giving initiatives in which the company matches donations made by employees to eligible nonprofit organizations. A matching gift is a donation made by your employer to a non-profit organization to match or multiply your donation, or the time you spent volunteering with that organization.

How do matching gifts work?

When an employee makes a donation to a non-profit, they’ll request the matching gift from their employer, who then makes their own donation to match that amount, or sometimes double, or triple it! A 1:1 match is a donation from the employer, equal to the amount of the employee’s donation. A 2:1 match means that a company will make a donation to the organization for double the amount. For example, if you donate $50, your company will double that, and contribute $100.

Does my employer offer a matching gift program and what information do I need?

Each company has its own set of requirements and forms, but typically you will need our address and our Employer Identification Number (EIN) to complete a matching gift. You may also need confirmation of your donation, which can include your donation tax receipt. Check with your employer for their specific requirements.
