Standing United as A Place of Welcome and Hope:

It was announced yesterday, January 21, 2025 that the new administration will be suspending all refugee resettlement for the foreseeable future. The Catherine McAuley Center has been working diligently to prepare. CMC has been involved in refugee resettlement in Cedar Rapids and the surrounding area for almost a decade. We recognize misinformation is being circulated about our newcomers and contributing members of our thriving community. Refugees are individuals and families who have been forced to flee their home countries to escape unimaginable circumstances including violence, war, and persecution. Refugees are some of those most vetted immigrants and have gone through extensive background checks and medical exams.
