With the CMC Kids program available at the Catherine McAuley Center, parents are able to attend classes, meet with case managers, and work toward their goals for stability while their children are cared for in a safe, nurturing, and familiar environment, while engaging in age appropriate activities that support their learning and development.
While Jonah’s mother was attending CMC’s Basic Healthcare Communications Class to prepare for a career in healthcare, Jonah attended CMC Kids four days a week. One day, Jonah’s mother stayed after class for additional practice with her English tutor. Meanwhile, Jonah was down the hall at CMC Kids, PLAYING and LEARNING, when another young child, Anna, arrived for her first day.
Anna was anxious as her mother left for class, but Jonah went up to Anna right away, bringing her some toys, and gesturing for her to come play with him. Soon, the two were laughing, talking, and playing together! When it was time to leave, Anna asked when she could come back to play with Jonah. Every day, kids like Jonah and Anna come to CMC Kids and form meaningful connections with other children. Their interaction is a perfect example of the WELCOMING SPIRIT of CMC!
