Welcoming Week is a nation-wide initiative to celebrate the values that unite us as neighbors, and to make our communities more welcoming.

Join us in celebrating Welcoming Week 2023 and creating a sense of belonging for all who call Eastern Iowa home!  Check out local opportunities to get involved below.

 

Refugee Simulation | Tuesday, September 12, 2023

 

Location: St. Jude Catholic Church | 50 Edgewood Rd NW, Cedar Rapids

Check-in time: 6:15 PM
Start Time: 6:30 PM
End Time: 8:30 PM

Take part in this free event to gain a better understanding of the experiences refugees face along their resettlement journey and learn more about how you can be a welcoming neighbor and ally!

As part of Welcoming Week, the Catherine McAuley Center is partnering with Cornell College and St. Jude Catholic Church to host a Refugee Simulation that takes participants through carefully researched and crafted scenarios as an immersive learning experience.

All ages are welcome. Registration is required. Please arrive before 6:30 to participate.
Non-perishable food items are appreciated.
